Johannes Richter (born December 6, 1993 in Neustadt an der Aisch ) is a German basketball player . Richter began his career with the Franconian Witches from Nuremberg, before the former youth national player switched to the offspring of the then German champions Brose Baskets in 2010 . In addition to intervening with the farm team of Breitengüßbach in the third-highest men's league ProB judge got by double license also the first operating times in the German top flight basketball league in the Bambergers that could initially successfully defend their title. In 2013, Richter moved to the first division competitor Frankfurt Skyliners, for whom he was not only used in the top German division but also with a double license in the reserve in the ProB.

Career

Richter had his first appearances in the top German junior division of the youth basketball league (NBBL) for the Franconian Witcher from Nuremberg , whose predecessor club had already played first-class for the men. With this team he reached the NBBL Top Four , in which they lost in the semi-finals to the defending champion Alba Berlin in 2010 . With the German U17 selection, Richter took part in the U17 World Championship, where the DBB was the host in Hamburg. After two first victories, they lost significantly to the eventual silver medalist Poland and after only one more victory they finally reached eighth place. Richter then switched to the junior program of the then German champion Brose Baskets from Bamberg , where he was initially used in the junior team of the cooperation partner TSV Tröster from Breitengüßbach . With the NBBL team, after losing the final in 2011 in the Top Four 2012, he won the title as the top scorer of his team in the victories in the semifinals against defending champion Team Ursprung and in the final against the offspring of the Eisbären Bremerhaven .

In the men's team of TSV Tröster, Richter already had his first six short appearances in the third-highest division ProB in the 2010/11 ProB . In the following ProB 2011/12 Richter, with an average playing time of 15 minutes per game, was already one of the top performers of the team that was eliminated in the play-offs for promotion again in the first round. With a double license , Richter got his first appearance in the top German basketball league with the Brose Baskets and finally in the semi-final series as well, a first play-off appearance when the Brose Baskets were able to defend their championship title. In 2012, Richter was both champion in the NBBL in the juniors and in the men. After an excellent fifth place with the German junior selection at the U20 European Championship in 2012, the ProB 2012/13 was less successful for the Güßbach men than they had to relegate after the relegation round. Although the Bambergers were able to defend the championship title again, although they had already lost the cup title, Richter had only made five short appearances in the regular season of the basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 . At the beginning of the ProB 2013/14 , Richter had his first assignments for the newcomers Bike-Café Messingschlager from Baunach , which instead of TSV Tröster had now become the first cooperation partner of Brose Baskets.

At the end of October 2013, however, Richter switched to the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt am Main , a first division competitor of Brose Baskets. In Frankfurt, Richter came to nine only slightly longer appearances in the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 , while he continued to play for the Skyliners Reserve with a double license in the ProB and was able to confirm his performance with Breitengüßbach, so that he was for the first time in February 2014 was named Youngster of the Month in this division. The ProB play-offs ended for him for the third time in the first round, while he had missed the championship play-offs with the first division team. In the 2014/15 season, Richter from coach Gordon Herbert was for the first time used more in the first division team than in the ProB, where he was able to more than double his playing time to just under ten minutes per game in the top division. At the Skyliners, Richter was used for the first time in a European club competition in the EuroChallenge 2014/15 . In 2016 he won the FIBA Europe Cup with Frankfurt .

In the 2016/2017 season, Richter moved within the BBL and joined the Telekom Baskets Bonn for two years . In order to take advantage of the chance of more playing time at another club, Richter asked Telekom Baskets Bonn to terminate his contract early in 2017 and left the club. Shortly afterwards he signed with the Bundesliga promoted Gotha Rockets . In August 2017 he took part in the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei with the German national student  team. After relegation with the Rockets, Richter moved to s.Oliver Würzburg within the basketball league in May 2018 . In summer 2020 he was signed by the Gießen 46ers .
