Career

John Armstrong began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , in which he was active from 2004 to 2008 for the Plymouth Whalers and Peterborough Petes . During this period he was selected in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 87 players by the Calgary Flames .

After the attacker had scored 20 scorer points for Calgary's farm team , the Quad City Flames from the American Hockey League , in 68 games in the 2008/09 season , he played for the new farm team of the Calgary Flames, the Abbotsford Heat, from the 2009/10 season in the AHL. He played there until 2012, but was also part of the ECHL team of the Utah Grizzlies in his last season . He then played for two years in the ECHL - first with the Kalamazoo Wings and later with the Las Vegas Wranglers . In 2014 he moved to Europe, where after two Scandinavian years at Lillehammer IK and the Odense Bulldogs , with whom he won the Danish Ice Hockey Cup, he has been on the ice with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League since 2016 . With the team from the center of the British steel industry, he won the league playoffs in 2017 with a 6-5 win after extra time against the Cardiff Devils .

From August 2018 Armstrong was under contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga , but left the club in December due to a lack of salary payments and returned to the Steelers.
