Josef Weber (* 25. November 1886 in Riemsloh in district Melle ; † 18th June 1972 in Hiltrup ) was a German educator and politician ( center , CDU ).

Life and work

After attending primary school and graduating from high school in Münster , Weber studied philosophy, psychology, pedagogy and philology in Innsbruck and Münster. During his studies he became a member of the Catholic student associations AV Alsatia Münster and AV Austria Innsbruck in the CV . He finished his studies with the state examination for the higher teaching post and received his doctorate in Dr. phil. and initially worked from 1909 to 1911 as a student trainee or as a study assessor at the grammar schools in Münster and Recklinghausen . Subsequently, as a teacher in the higher education service. Weber worked from 1912 to 1921 as a high school teacher in Wattenscheidand from 1921 to 1945 was director of the state youth welfare office and head of the institute for practical psychology. At the same time, he was regional supervisory board member at the Westphalian provincial administration and department head at the welfare education authority, and later at the regional welfare association of Westphalia .

After the Second World War , Weber was general advisor for welfare and public health to the Oberpräsident von Westfalen, Rudolf Amelunxen, from 1945 to 1946 . In September 1946 he was appointed ministerial director to the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Social Affairs.

Political party

Weber joined the Center Party after the end of the war . After a coalition crisis in the SPD / FDP / center state government, he joined the CDU on March 24, 1958, together with several center deputies.

From 1954 to 1958 Weber belonged to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament for the Center Party .

Public offices

On September 15, 1950, Weber was appointed Minister of Social Affairs in the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia led by Prime Minister Karl Arnold . After the amalgamation of the ministries for labor, social affairs and reconstruction on October 1, 1953, he changed the department and was appointed minister for the affairs of the landscape associations. With the formation of the new cabinet , he left office on July 27, 1954.
