Joseph Friedrich Karl von Klüx (born August 13, 1774 in Halle , † July 11, 1816 in Teplitz ) was a Prussian major general and most recently brigade chief in VI. Army Corps .

Life

origin

His parents were Lieutenant General Wolfgang Heinrich Ernst von Klüx (1728–1805) and his wife Luise Ferdinande, born von Zehmen called von Braun (1738–1789). His brother was General Franz Friedrich Karl Ernst von Klüx .

Military career

Klüx came on March 1, 1788 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Braunschweig" . There he became an ensign on January 26, 1790 and came on May 8, 1790 as a second lieutenant in the infantry regiment "von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel-Oels" , where Klüx rose to prime lieutenant on August 12, 1799 . On December 16, 1800, he came to the South Prussian Infantry Inspection under Lieutenant General von Graevenitz as staff captain and inspection adjutant . On July 25, 1803, Klüx became captain and on October 29, 1805, he was transferred to the market as adjutant . In the run-up to the Fourth Coalition War , he joined the king's entourage on February 22, 1806. During the war, Klüx took part in the Battle of Auerstedt . On November 22, 1806 he was promoted to major with a patent from October 14, 1806 and appointed brigadier of the reserve battalions in Königsberg on December 24, 1806 . On February 5, 1807 he was appointed wing adjutant of the infantry, for which he received a salary of 1,600 thalers.

On September 1, 1807, Klüx received the order Pour le Mérite and on May 5, 1808 the order of St. Vladimir . On August 30, 1808, he was transferred to the Cosel Fortress as commandant . On April 19, 1809 he was assigned to Colonel Goetzen. On February 8, 1810, Klüx was promoted to lieutenant colonel with a patent from February 15, 1810. Shortly afterwards, on February 13, 1810, he was entrusted as a brigadier with the leadership of the Upper Silesian infantry. On August 3, 1811 Klüx received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class and on September 11, 1811 a gift of 1000 thalers. On August 8, 1812, he became a colonel with a patent on August 18, 1812.

In the run-up to the Wars of Liberation , he joined the II Army Corps as brigade chief on March 18, 1813 , was promoted to major general on June 25, 1813 and received a salary of 3,000 thalers from July 29, 1813. During the Wars of Liberation, Klüx received the Iron Cross II. Class for Großgörschen and the First Class Cross for Kulm ; he also fought in the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig . On May 31, 1814 he received the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with Oak Leaves and on April 29, 1815 he came to the VI as brigade chief. Army Corps. For his compromised health, Klüx received leave for an indefinite period from September 25, 1815, during which he went to Silesia. He died on July 11, 1816 in Teplitz.

Klüx married on September 25, 1805 in Glogau Johanna Auguste Vitzthum von Eckstedt (March 2, 1787, † October 19, 1852) from the house of Ziebern. The couple had several children:

After her husband's death, the widow married Lieutenant Colonel Otto von Kuylenstierna.
