Wolfgang Heinrich Ernst von Klüx (born November 21, 1728 at Gut Petershain ; † January 4, 1805 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and most recently assessor in the 7th Department (disability pension) of the Higher War College .

Life

origin

He was the son of Wolf Gottlob von Klüx (1684–1757) and his wife Sophie Henriette, born von List (1690–1767) from the house of Ober-Rengersdorf . His father was the heir to Ober- and Nieder-Petershain, Ober- and Nieder-Qelsa , Leipgen , Förstgen and other estates.

Military career

During the Second Silesian War , Klüx was a cadet in Dresden . In the battle of Kesselsdorf he was taken prisoner by the Prussians. After the war he switched to Prussian services and in January 1746 came to the infantry regiment "Alt-Anhalt" as a private corporal . On July 23, 1749 he became ensign and on August 27, 1756 second lieutenant . In the Seven Years' War Klüx fought in the battle of Lobositz and Prague , also in the sieges of Prague, Dresden, Schweidnitz and the battles near Züllichau, Adelsbach, Leutmannsdorf and Maißen. During that time he was on October 20, 1758, Premier Lieutenant and Adjutant General to General von Braun, and on December 24, 1760, staff captain and on December 22, 1761, captain and company commander .

After the war, it was not until February 2, 1776 that he became a major . On May 6, 1778 Klüx was appointed battalion commander and then took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . The battalion was part of Prince Henry's army. On May 22, 1785 he became lieutenant colonel and on May 20, 1787 colonel with a patent from May 27, 1787. On June 3, 1788 Klüx rose to regimental commander. At a parade on May 27, 1789, he was also awarded the Pour le Mérite order . On September 7, 1791, due to his age, he was transferred to the 7th Department (Disability Pension) of the Upper War College. For this he received a salary of 2000 thalers. Klüx did a good job there and on January 1, 1793 he was promoted to major general and on May 27, 1798 to lieutenant general. In addition, on August 5, 1798, he received an annual bonus of 500 thalers (from September 1, 1798). Klüx died on January 4, 1805 in Berlin and was buried on January 9, 1805 in the Invalidenfriedhof .

Klüx married Luise Ferdinande von Zehmen called von Braun (1738–1789) on July 7, 1767 in Glogau . She was a stepdaughter of General August Wilhelm von Braun . The couple had several children including:

In recognition of the general's achievements, the eldest daughter received a pension of 150 thalers from King Friedrich Wilhelm III on January 8, 1805 .
