Joseph von Larisch

Joseph August Graf von Larisch (born July 25, 1777 in Opava , Austrian Silesia ; † December 3, 1841 in Breslau , Province of Silesia ) was a Prussian major general and owner of the Bielau estate in the Neisse district .

Life

His parents were the master of Karwin Johann Erdmann Florian Johann Nepomuk von Larisch (* February 8, 1737, † 1792) and his wife Maria Anna, née Countess von Hoditz. She was the daughter of the Prussian Colonel Isidor von Hoditz and his wife Maria Anna, née Countess Vetter von der Lilie , who married the Count of Orlich-Laziska after the death of her husband. His brother Johann married Anna Maria Thekla von Mönnich and thereby founded the Larisch-Mönnich line.

Military career

Larisch was initially in Austrian service from 1792 . In the First Coalition War he fought in battle near Valenciennes , was wounded near Wetzlar and in the battle of Verona . He also took part in the sieges of Mannheim , Kehl , Mantua , Ancona and Genoa . On March 6, 1805, Larisch resigned from Austrian service as a major . He managed his estates near Neisse , became district deputy and national representative in Berlin.

With the beginning of the Wars of Liberation , Larisch went into Prussian service as a major and became the commander of the 8th Silesian Landwehr Regiment. During the war he fought in the battles near Dresden and Kulm . During the blockade of Erfurt he acquired the Tuscan Order of St. Stephen and on September 5, 1813 the Iron Cross, 2nd class. On December 8, 1813, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel with a patent from February 15, 1814 . Larisch was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV on March 17, 1815 and promoted to colonel on July 4, 1815. From May 16, 1816 to August 13, 1819 he was commander of the 3rd Breslau Landwehr Regiment and then inspector of the Landwehr in the Breslau administrative district . On February 22, 1820, Larisch resigned from this position and received half of his salary as waiting allowance until further use. In view of his services before the enemy, he was awarded the character of major general on February 14, 1835 . He died in Breslau on December 3, 1841.

Larisch married Sophie Therese Freiin von Gruttschreiber (* 1770; † December 2, 1812) from the Gleesen family on February 6, 1803 . The couple had a son:

  • Ferdinand Alexander (February 27, 1804 - December 7, 1892) ⚭ Anna Antonia Josepha von Mettich (June 7, 1808 - March 16, 1850)

On October 20, 1835, Larisch married Maria Antonie Josepha Countess von Mettich in Breslau (* October 13, 1806, † March 4, 1886). The couple had several children:

  • Helene Maria Karoline (born March 29, 1836) ⚭ November 17, 1854 Robert von Collas (born September 13, 1819), parents of Karl von Collas
  • Heinrich Lazaraus Karl Anton Joseph Maria (April 19, 1838 - April 22, 1839)
