Life

Julia Bertram first attended the St. Martin elementary school in Dernau and subsequently the Kalvarienberg monastery high school in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler . At Kalvarienberg she also passed the Abitur , in order to complete a six-month internship in 2009 in the winery of the Dernau winemaker Werner Näkel . As part of the television program Die Ahr - Genuss am Fluss, first broadcast in 2010, from the series of the WDR travel magazine Wunderschön! In the following year she presented Stefan Pinnow as a co-moderator with Bernd Stelter , along with the daughters of Näkel, Meike and Dörte and Julia Bertram as a young winemaker.

After her internship at Näkel, Julia Bertram studied viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim until she was elected German Wine Queen . In 2012 she obtained the title of "Bachelor of Science" in this course. Originally, her goal was to follow up on her bachelor's degree in viticulture and oenology with a master's degree in international wine management, also in Geisenheim. After her tenure as German Wine Queen with 250 appointments within less than a year, which not only took her to the German wine-growing regions, but also to a wine tasting in the European Parliament , Canada or China , she stated for herself: “I have an international wine industry I did a year in practice, I don't have to study that anymore. "

From June 10, 2011 to September 2012, she was the area wine queen on the Ahr before she stood for the election of the German wine queen. On September 29, 2012, she was elected the 64th German Wine Queen in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse as the successor to Annika Strebel from the Rheinhessen wine-growing region . Natalie Henninger from Baden and Anna Hochdörffer from the Palatinate stood by her side as wine princesses during her twelve-month tenure .

As operations manager and cellar master , Julia Bertram began bottling her first wine while she was still in office as the German Wine Queen. Processing and bottling were initially carried out in the company of her future husband Benedikt Baltes, who ran the Benedikt Baltes winery in Klingenberg am Main .

Even before she got married, Julia Baltes had an excellent reputation with the winery named after her maiden name Julia Bertram, and the title of German Wine Queen also helped it to become “a kind of brand”. As a result, the name of the Julia Bertram winery stayed the same even after the marriage . The Bertram-Baltes winery emerged from the Julia Bertram and Benedikt Baltes wineries in spring 2020.
