Julien Sewering (born December 8, 1988 ) is a German web video producer , opinion blogger , satirist , rap musician and music competition organizer .

Life

Little information is known about Sewering's private life. He comes from Schleswig-Holstein , probably from Wees . According to his own statements, he is the son of a police officer, has three siblings and his grandfather comes from Italy . In 2009 Sewering worked for a video production company. According to his own statements, he also served in the Bundeswehr for two years .

First beginnings

Sewering first became known through his former YouTube channel Julien's Hateblog , on which he published videos. These videos were all designed in a similar way, in which he expressed his opinion on topics that he usually disliked in a satirical way and through stylistic devices such as black humor , sarcasm , irony and exaggeration . The channel ceased to exist in 2011 because it was deleted due to various violations of YouTube guidelines.

Julien's blog

Sewering started its YouTube channel JuliensBlog on May 29, 2011 . The predecessor of this channel was Julien's Hateblog , which was discontinued at pressure from Sewering's former employer.

In his first videos, Sewering addressed his opinion and criticism on a topic and underlined this with diagrams . In later videos, Sewering appeared in front of the camera, sitting on a sofa, and gave his opinion.

On July 11, 2019, after four years, he published a new video called Julien's Blog - Comeback.

JuliensBlogBattle

The JuliensBlogBattle (JBB for short) was announced by Julien Sewering as a reaction to the disstrack “Nobody” by the artist Sun Diego on March 24, 2012, in the accompanying “Rapa Analysis”. It started on April 20, 2012 on the JuliensBlog YouTube channel with the so-called “HALL OF SHAME”, a format in which he presented and then analyzed the qualifications of what he saw as the worst artists.

Julien's second channel, Julien's BlogBattle , has existed since July 6, 2012 and regularly hosts battle rap tournaments in the form of music videos by various artists. The channel is enjoying some popularity. It has over 1.5 million subscribers and over 770 million views (as of April 2019). The JuliensBlogBattle is meanwhile the most watched German-speaking battle rap tournament, ahead of the VideoBattleTurnier .

The tournament will be played in the style of the knockout system , in which the like (or dislike) number of spectators and Julien's assessment will decide who will advance to the next round. So far, the rappers SpongeBOZZ (2013 and 2014), Der Asiate , 4tune and Greeen have participated . Through the JBB, some previously unknown rappers were able to reach the album charts, for example SpongeBOZZ and Laskah .

In 2016 Julien paused the JBB to host the JuliensMusicCypher , a more music-oriented competition. The victory at the JMC 2016, which had 64 participants, went to Gary Washington .

In July 2017 he started the JBB 2018 and at the same time announced his second studio album "ANALyse 2".

Timatic won the JuliensBlogBattle 2017 and he also received the “King of Kings” award.

Conviction for sedition

Sewering's video JuliensBlog # 21 - GDL (rail strike) , which was removed by the author a few days after its publication , met with the greatest negative response to date. In it, Sewering called for the mass murder of the GdL locomotive drivers through gassing in the Auschwitz concentration camp . In this video he offered to drive the train to the selection ramp free of charge. The video is visually accompanied by a picture from Auschwitz-Birkenau. A complaint was then made against Sewering. As a result, the Tecklenburg district court issued a penalty order for a ten-month prison sentence , suspended for two years, and a € 14,000 fine. Sewering appealed against this penalty order. He argued that he was an actor in his videos and that the opinions expressed there were not his own. However, the court did not follow this line of argument and rejected the appeal to artistic freedom . Sewering was finally sentenced to eight months in prison , suspended over a probation period of three years, and € 15,000. He was also ordered to pay the costs.

Musician

On March 28, 2013 Sewering released his album ANALyse, which was already planned for December 12, 2012 . The album mainly contains disstracks that thematize artists like Haftbefehl , Farid Bang and Fler . The video for the single “11. September “was indexed.
