The Young Vocal Ensemble Hannover is a semi-professional mixed choir from Hannover . It was founded in 1981 by Klaus-Jürgen Etzold and is still managed by him today. The choir has received numerous international prizes and is today one of the most renowned ensembles of its kind in Germany .

In addition to secular and sacred a cappella music from the 15th to the 21st century, the ensemble also sings works with an orchestra , such as masses and oratorios . One focus of the work is the study of unknown a cappella literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, including world premieres of contemporary works.

So far, the Young Vocal Ensemble Hannover has recorded sixteen CDs and has been invited to various productions by the Norddeutscher Rundfunk as a guest choir since 1988 . The choir is regularly engaged by leading choir associations and conductors for workshops and master classes.

Regular concerts all over Germany and many guest tours shape the work of the choir. By exchanging ideas with other choirs and attending competitions and festivals, the choir members have the opportunity to get to know new works and interesting choirs and to pass on German choral traditions. In addition to numerous trips to other European countries, the choir traveled a. a. to Egypt , Israel , Mexico , Venezuela , China , Turkey , Philippines , Singapore , USA and South Africa .

  • 2002: 2nd prize and special prize for contemporary music in the 6th German Choir Competition in Osnabrück
  • 2006: 1st prize and 2 special prizes in the 52nd international Habanera competition in Torrevieja , Spain
  • 2007: 3rd prize in the international radio choir competition " Let the Peoples Sing " in Wuppertal
  • 2008: 2nd prize at the international choir festival "Julio Villarroel" in Porlamar , Venezuela

  • 2010: ECHO Klassik for the CD “Glaubenslieder”, together with eight other choirs from Hanover
