Kai August Forbath (* 2. September 1987 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the Kickers . After the draft in 2011 he was hired as a free agent by the Dallas Cowboys , where he did not play a game due to injury. After a short interlude with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , stints with the Washington Redskins , New Orleans Saints , Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars followed . An intermezzo with the New England Patriots was followed by a job with the Cowboys. He is currently a free agent.

college

Forbath attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and played for their team, the Bruins, college football from 2007 to 2010, scoring 102 field goals in 104 attempts .

NFL

Despite his good performance in college, Forbath was not considered in the 2011 NFL Draft , but was hired as a free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in August 2011 , but could not prevail due to injury and was fired in 2012 without having played a single game.

Washington Redskins

After he had completed the pre-season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , but was sacked before the start of the regular season , signed him in October 2012, the Washington Redskins as a replacement for the injured Billy Cundiff . Forbath knew how to convince and remained the team's kicker for the following two seasons. In 2015 he was fired after the first game.

New Orleans Saints

On 19 October 2015 he was selected by the New Orleans Saints committed to Zach Hocker to replace.

On September 6, 2016 Forbath was fired by the Saints, instead of him the rookie Wil Lutz was signed .

Minnesota Vikings

After the Minnesota Vikings fired Blair Walsh during the current 2016 season , they signed Forbath on November 16, 2016, giving him a two-year contract. This was extended for another year on March 20, 2018, but the Vikings fired Forbath on August 20, 2018 and decided to go into the 2018 season with the newly drafted kicker Daniel Carlson .

Jacksonville Jaguars

After the groin injury of their regular kicker Josh Lambo, Forbath was able to prevail against three other candidates and was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 14, 2018. After the end of the season he was released again.

New England Patriots

On November 29, 2019, the New England Patriots signed Forbath after their previous kicker Nick Folk was out for an appendix operation.

Return to the Dallas Cowboys

On December 9, 2019, the Dallas Cowboys signed Forbath a second time after he won a workout that was held due to great dissatisfaction with the performance of the previous cowboys' kicker, Brett Maher . First, the Cowboys extended the contract with Forbath for the 2020 season, but he could not prevail against Greg Zuerlein and was therefore released on August 1st.
