Kairos -

Kairos is the twelfth studio album of Brazilian thrash metal - band Sepultura . It was the band's first on Nuclear Blast in June 2011 .

Emergence

On July 6, 2010 it was announced that Sepultura had signed with Nuclear Blast and will release an album in 2011. Until the end of 2010 they worked on new material. In December 2010 the band went into the studio with producer Roy Z ( Judas Priest , Halford , Iron Maiden ). The predecessor A-Lex was recorded in the Trama Studios in São Paulo . In addition to their own pieces, a cover version of the Ministry piece Just One Fix was also recorded. Another cover, The Prodigys Firestarter , was used as a bonus title.

Regarding the album title, guitarist Andreas Kisser said that the concept of the album is about time , but not in a chronological sense, but in terms of the special point in time, the time for decision and for change. There are certain Cairo moments in life:

"The whole theme of the album is the concept of the time, and the title reflects that - it's like one concept of time which is not chronological, from one to two; it's like a an instant in time, it's a special time of change ... Everyone's life is written by [their] choices - you have many 'kairos' moments, like if you go [from] point A [to point] B [ to point] C, you are driven by your choices or your guidance; you have to go either one way or the other. And that's the kind of time we talked about - not about aging or getting old or going back [in time]; It's just [about those important] moments that can change everything. "

reception

In Rock Hard magazine , Thomas Kupfer highlighted Roy-Z's production, saying that after the “seemingly disheveled” album A-Lex it “ got the band back on track.” The “subliminal aggressiveness” of the band would be more effective than before. "Nasty riffs , the brutal but always controlled singing of front giant Derrick Green and a varied rhythmic work make it unmistakably clear that the patient Sepultura already counted is on the way to old strength." Eight out of ten points were awarded. Michael Edele from laut.de criticizes the fact that Kairos “relies excessively on monotony”.
