Karin Oberhofer (born November 3, 1985 in Brixen , South Tyrol ) is a former Italian biathlete .

In Feldthurns living Südtirolerin Karin Oberhofer from CS Esercito ( sports promotion group of the Army ) took in 2005 in Kontiolahti and 2006 in Presque Isle at junior world championships. In 2006 she achieved good placements with 13th place in the individual, 14th in the sprint and five in the relay. Shortly afterwards she was already used in the European Cup and reached 33rd place in the sprint in Ridnaun . In the individual, she has never been better than tenth in the sprint of Forni Avoltri in 2007. She made her first appearances at the highest level at the Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Antholz . After a 75th place in the individual, she was 47th in the sprint and surprisingly qualified for the pursuit (46th). At the final of the World Cup, she ran as the last runner in the Italian relay. When the third of the season, Roberta Fiandino , switched to her, the season was still close to the medals. Despite a good performance by Oberhofer, she could not hold this level against the strong final runners of the top nations. Nevertheless, the Italian relay reached a good eighth place in the end. The major event of 2008 was the European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě , where the Italian was 33rd in the individual, 44th in the sprint and 41st in the pursuit. Karin Oberhofer won her first World Cup points in a sprint race in Pokljuka in the 2009/2010 season when she finished 29th. In a sprint in Antholz, she was able to improve her best result to 18th place in the same season. She took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her best result was 47th in the sprint and 53rd in the pursuit. She was eleventh in the relay.

In 2011 Oberhofer was used at three international championships. First at the European Biathlon Championships 2011 in Ridnaun , where she surprisingly won the silver medal in the relay race with Dorothea Wierer , Roberta Fiandino and Michela Andreola as the final runner. In the sprint, she narrowly missed another medal win in fourth place. Eleventh place in the pursuit and tenth place in the individual completed a good championship. The Biathlon World Championships 2011 in Khanty-Mansiysk brought not only the best individual result at a World Cup, but also the best result in the World Cup with rank 15 in the individual. With four results in the points, Oberhofer was 56th of the overall World Cup, as in the previous season. In the World Championship sprint she was 49. With Michela Ponza , Katja Haller and Dorothea Wierer, she also missed a medal in fourth place in the relay race by just one place. In the further course of the year she started at the Summer Biathlon European Championships 2011 in Martell and was 13th in the sprint and sixth in the mixed relay race with Alexia Runggaldier , Dominik Windisch and Rudy Zini . She celebrated her greatest success so far at the Biathlon World Championships 2013 in Nové Město. There she won bronze as the final runner with the Italian relay at the side of Wierer, Nicole Gontier and Ponza and thus the first medal for an Italian women's relay at a biathlon world championship. In 2015 she repeated this success with the relay and also won the bronze medal in the mass start.

In May 2018, Oberhofer ended her career as an active competitive athlete. She wanted to spend more time with her family and especially with her son, who was ten months old at the time.
