Karl Wilhelm von Kreckwitz
Karl Wilhelm von Kreckwitz (born August 8, 1722 in Ober Breslawitz, † September 4, 1774 in Berlin ) was a Prussian colonel .
Life
origin
Karl Wilhelm came from the Lower Silesian noble family von Kreckwitz . His parents were Ernst Konrad von Kreckwitz and Johanna Eleonore von Sebottendorff adH Poppelwitz.
career
Kreckwitz began his career on October 12, 1737 in Berlin cadet school and was on November 28, 1740 cadet in the Infantry Regiment. 26, . There he was promoted on February 1, 1743 to Ensign , 1747 to second lieutenant and in 1752 to first lieutenant . As such, Kreckwitz received the order Pour le Mérite in December 1757 for his performance in the Battle of Leuthen , where he was wounded just as before at Prague , but must also have been promoted to staff captain in December 1757 . On January 16, 1758 he rose to become a real captain . After the battle of Kunersdorf , the personnel losses of the grenadier battalions "Heyden" and "Bornstedt" were so significant that both were merged, Kreckwitz, the longest-serving grenadier captain, was given command and led to a first enemy contact at Korbitz . He was captured in the Battle of Maxen , but had participated in all of Frederick the Great's campaigns up to that point . The next steps on his tour were his promotion to major on December 10, 1761, to lieutenant colonel on June 13, 1772 and finally to colonel and regimental commander on June 6, 1773. He remained in this position until his death.
Kreckwitz was the heir to Schimmelwitz and Linde in the Duchy of Oels .

With Anna Dorothea Vetter Kreckwitz had a son Karl Wilhelm (* 1754) born in Berlin. He married Countess Christine Karoline von Flemming (1744–1809) in Berlin in 1767 , daughter of Friedrich von Flemming and Johanna von Grumbkow . From this marriage, the children Anton Ernst (* 1769) and Kardine Friederike (* 1769), as well as the daughter Charlotte Christine (* 1771), who married Adam von Czarnowski in 1796, were born in Berlin.
