Karolina Herta Christina Pahlitzsch (born April 5, 1994 in Berlin ) is a German athlete who has specialized in the 400-meter sprint , hurdles and relay distances . In the USA, she also covers 600 and 800 meter distances , both indoors and outdoors.

career path

Pahlitzsch attended the Werner-Seelenbinder-Schule , a sports high school in Berlin-Lichtenberg . My career aspiration is to become a doctor, which is why they in the 2014 United States went and at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln , a psychology degree recorded. She joined the Huskers University in Berlin , where she stayed for three years until she moved to the University of Arizona in Tucson , where she completed her bachelor's thesis in May 2019.

Athletic career

Karolina Pahlitzsch was already successful as a 16-year-old in older age groups: for example, in 2010 as German U20 runner-up with the 4 x 400 meter relay or with the bronze rank in the 400 meter hurdles of the German U18 championships .

In 2011 she became German U18 champion in the 400 meter hurdles with a season best and reached the semi-finals at the U18 World Championships .

In 2012, Pahlitzsch won bronze at the German U20 championships over the long hurdles.

In 2013, she won the title at the German U20 Championships with the 4 x 400 meter relay . Over 400 meter hurdles Pahlitzsch achieved 7th place at the U20 European Championships and was German U20 runner-up over the same distance .

In 2014 Pahlitzsch was able to become German U23 runner-up in the older age group over the long hurdles .

In 2015 she took part in six competitions in the USA in the indoor season, with Pahlitzsch  setting up personal bests in the 200 and 600 meter runs, and in the outdoor season she competed freely. At the German U23 championships she reached 4th place over the hurdles and 7th place at the German championships .

In 2016, Pahlitzsch won two 600-meter runs, a 200 -meter and a 400-meter race during the US indoor season, and set a new personal best over 400 meters. In the open air season, she took two wins over the long hurdles in the United States and climbed to 57.95 s, which was the seventh-best time in the history of the University of Nebraska to date . At the German Championships Pahlitzsch came in 6th.

In 2017 she was eliminated over the long hurdles at the German championships in the preliminary run.

In 2018, Pahlitzsch competed in three competitions during the indoor season in the USA. She won the 600-meter run in a personal best of 1: 29.23 minutes at the Texas Tech Shootout in Lubbock . In the outdoor season, she took part in eight US competitions, increased her personal bests in the 400-, 800-meter and 400-meter hurdles, and competed in the NCAA Championships and the NCAA West Preliminary Round. At the German championships , Pahlitzsch started in the 400-meter run and finished in 5th place. With the long relay she reached 6th place at the European Championships .

In 2019, Pahlitzsch competed five times in the USA during the indoor season. In the open-air season she competed eight times, improved her times over the long hurdles and the stadium lap, which she finished victoriously twice. At the European Games , Pahlitzsch came in 5th place with the mixed relay. At the Sparkassen-Gala in Regensburg , she ran the 400 meters with 52.60 seconds for the first time under 53 seconds and was second on the German annual best list. A week later she was German runner- up in the stadium round . At the World Championships in Doha , Pahlitzsch ran in the mixed relay, which could not reach the final.

Pahlitzsch belongs to the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV).

Club affiliations

Karolina Pahlitzsch has been with SV Preußen Berlin since 2014 and had previously been with LG Nike Berlin since 2011, to which she came from LAC Berlin .
