Karoxbostel belongs to the district of Hittfeld in the Seevetal municipality in the Harburg district of Lower Saxony .

Geography and transport links

The place is about 3 km south of the state border with Hamburg . The Seeve , a left tributary of the Elbe, flows on the eastern edge of the village . The north of the 28 stretches ha large nature reserve Old Moor .

The place is on both sides of the A 39 between the A 7 running to the west and the A 1 running to the east at a short distance from the Maschener Kreuz to the east and the Horster triangle to the south .

Karoxbostel watermill

Building ensembles of the Karoxbostel watermill

In 2012 the association Wassermühle Karoxbostel was founded with 88 members to save the ensemble of buildings of the Karoxbostel watermill . The complex consists of a residential and farm building from 1817, the water mill from 1893 and ancillary buildings. The association acquired the site and renovated the facility by 2015. With around 1000 members today (2017), the association is the mill association with the largest number of members in Germany.
