Katja Sallay

Katja Sallay (born June 15, 1983 in Budapest ) is a German actress of Jewish- Hungarian origin.

Life and career

Born in Hungary and raised in Germany , Katja Sallay began her film career (after a short excursion at the Humboldt University in Berlin in German studies, philosophy and Hungarian studies) as a camera assistant for film, TV and advertising.

After a four-year scholarship for acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in Los Angeles , she started in 2009 with her first leading theater role in Paulus Manker 's Alma in Vienna and with a guest performance in Jerusalem (in Hebrew and English ).

She played the Alma for 9 years in various cities and locations, making it the longest-serving Alma.

Other major theater productions included the Broadway play Geächtet ( Disgraced ) by Ayad Akhtar at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm , staged in Germany for the first time in 2016 , in which she played the leading role of "Emily".

In addition to the theater, the first film and television roles came, such as in 2012 in the movie The Last Mentsch at the side of Mario Adorf , in 2014 in Sin & Illy still alive by the director Maria Hengge, in 2013 as the leading role in the dramedy Im Winter, So Schön , 2016 in the now filmed Berlin blog Notes Of Berlin and in 2018, directed by Philipp Stölzl in I was never in New York (film) and The diaries of Adam and eva (director: Franz Müller ).

Since 2016 Katja Sallay has also been speaking audio books , especially in the genres "Young adult" and "Thriller", and has made a name for herself with her soulful and unconventional interpretation of the books.

She can be seen in a spot by the Berlin Philharmonic .

In 2020 she shot the teaser for her upcoming debut film "5 Seasons" for the first time as a director , for which she wrote the script based on autobiographical models.
