Katzelsried is a district of the municipality of Tiefenbach in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The village of Katzelsried lies in the middle between Tiefenbach and Hiltersried on the eastern bank of the Buchbach.

history

The name Katzelsried is probably derived from the personal name "Chazili", which means: "clearing of the chazili". On April 1, 1317, Katzelsried was first mentioned in a document under the name "Chätzleinsreuth". There was a mill in Katzelsried until the 1950s . At the beginning of the 20th century, increasingly higher demands were made on the flour quality , which the small mills could no longer meet and gradually sold their milling rights to the large milling companies. On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Katzelsried was listed as part of the exposed Hiltersried cooperative of the Schönthal parish with 17 houses and 127 inhabitants. In the course of the regional reform , Katzelsried was assigned to the municipality of Tiefenbach on May 1, 1978. On December 31, 1990, Katzelsried was part of the Hiltersried parish with 88 inhabitants.
