The Katzenbach is a 17 km long river in central Baden-Wuerttemberg with its longest upper course , which flows into the upper Neckar in the village of Bad Niedernau in the town of Rottenburg am Neckar in the Tübingen district from the right and a total of approximately southeast .

geography

The Katzenbach arises in the forest area Rammert east-southeast of Dettingen from the confluence of the right and longer Beurenbach and the much smaller left Esperlesbach . Unlike the latter, which originates in Rammert itself, the Beurenbach has its origins before that at Bodelshausen and is by far the more important of the two upper courses.

After the long forest stretch in Rammert, in which the Katzenbach flows for a long time in a meadow meadow, it crosses the village of Dettingen in front of the forest mountains and takes on the Krebsbach from the left , a little downhill from it, until then on a short section called Aischbach . The two bodies of water are roughly the same size at this point.

In the lower reaches of the Katzenbach runs northwards through the narrow Katzenbachtal, on the right edge of which is the Sieben-Täler-Höhle , and flows into the Neckar in Bad Niedernau.

The Katzenbach has a length of 9.7 km from its confluence from the two upper courses mentioned, together with the Beurenbach one of 17.1 km.
