Kealia Watt (born January 31, 1992 as Kealia Mae Ohai in Draper , Utah ) is an American soccer player who has been under contract with the Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League since the 2014 season . On January 7, 2020, the Houston Dash announced that Kealia Watt would join the Chicago Red Stars ahead of the 2020 season .

Career

While studying at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , Watt played for the North Carolina Tar Heels university team from 2010 to 2013 . In January 2014 she was signed in the college draft of the NWSL in the first round in position two of the Houston Dash franchise and made her debut there on April 12, 2014 in the home game against Portland Thorns FC .

National team

Watt made his debut in 2009 in the U-20 national team of the US Football Association and won the 2012 World Cup with them . In the course of the tournament, she scored one goal in both the semi-finals against Nigeria and in the 1-0 final victory over Germany . In 2014 she made three appearances in the US U-23 as part of the six-nation tournament in La Manga . Watt made her A international debut on October 23, 2016 against Switzerland . In this game she also scored her first international goal.

Watt is engaged to the football player J. J. Watt . Her older sister Megan (* 1989) is married to American football linebacker Brian Cushing and also played as a footballer until 2009, for the United States in the junior division and in league operations for the W-League franchise of the Ventura County Fusion, among others and the USC Trojans .
