Morgan Paige Gautrat (* 26. February 1993 as Morgan Paige Brian in St. Simons , Georgia ) is an American football national player , since the season 2018 when NWSL participant Chicago Red Stars under contract.
Career
societies
Gautrat played for the University of Virginia team , the Virginia Cavaliers , from 2012 to 2014 . She also played a league game for WPSL participant Florida Sol FC in 2013 . When college draft to the 2015 season of NWSL Gautrat was in the first position of the franchise in the Houston Dash drafted. At the end of August 2017, she switched to league rivals Chicago Red Stars in exchange for Kristie Mewis . Almost four months later she received a contract with France's series champion Olympique Lyon until summer 2020. There Gautrat only completed four league games (one goal) until the contract was terminated in summer 2018, also due to injuries. As a result, she returned to the Chicago Red Stars. In the regular season Chicago finished fourth and then failed in the semifinals of the NWSL Championship play-offs at eventual winner North Carolina Courage .
National team
Gautrat played for the U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams of the USA and ran among other things at the U-20 World Cup in 2012 , where she scored a goal. On June 15, 2013, she came in a friendly against South Korea for the first time for the A-selection of the USA when she was substituted on by national coach Tom Sermanni in the second half. Gautrat scored her first goal on September 3, 2013 in the friendly against Mexico , her second international match. In the 1-0 win against Canada on January 31, 2014, she was in the starting line-up for the first time. In 2014 she took part in the Algarve Cup for the first time, in which the USA only finished 7th.
She was also named to the US squad for the 2015 World Cup . It was used in six games. In the first group game against Australia , she came on in the 86th minute for Megan Rapinoe . She was in the starting line-up against Sweden, but was substituted after 58 minutes. In the last group game against Nigeria she was not taken into account. In the round of 16 against Colombia she came on in the 69th minute for Abby Wambach . In the following games she was always in the starting line-up and played until the end of the game. With the final victory against Japan, in which she gave the template to make it 5-2, she was now also world champion with the senior national team.
She was also on the roster for the 2016 Summer Olympics qualifier , which the United States won. She was used in all five games, but in the 10-0 in the last group game against Puerto Rico when some regular players were spared, she was only substituted when the score was 7-0. She was chosen as one of the two best central midfielders in the tournament's all-star team and was awarded the “Golden Ball” for best player. At the Olympic Games, she was used in the four games, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by penalty shootout against Sweden and thus did not reach the final for the first time. Due to an injury, she only made six international appearances in 2017. On the way to old fitness, there were twelve international matches in 2018, in which she helped win the SheBelieves Cup , the Tournament of Nations and the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2018 , with which the USA qualified for the 2019 World Cup. On May 1, 2019, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup . At the World Cup she was only used in the second group game against Chile , when most of the regular players were not used, but played for over 90 minutes.
