Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon ( Greek Κίνημα Οικολόγων - Συνεργασία Πολιτών Kinima Oikologon - Synergasia Politon ; abbreviated ΚΟΣΠ / KOSP; English Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Cooperation ; on German  ecologist movement - Civil Cooperation ) is a corporation founded in 1996 Cypriot party that the principles of eco-socialist and advocates green politics . Since the last parliamentary elections on May 22, 2016 , the party has had two seats in the House of Representatives of Cyprus .

By June 2016, the party was Kinima Ikologon Perivallontiston ( Greek Κίνημα Οικολόγων Περιβαλλοντιστών Kinima Oikologon Perivallontiston ; abbreviated ΚΟΠ / LAD; English Ecological and Environmental Movement , on German  Ecological and Environmental Movement ).

history

The Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon was founded in February 1996 as Kinima Ikologon Perivallontiston and reached 1% of the votes in the parliamentary elections in the same year and thus missed the entry into the House of Representatives of Cyprus. In the following parliamentary elections in 2001 she made it into the House of Representatives with 1.98% of the vote. Deputy was Giorgos Perdikis for the electoral district of Nicosia. In the parliamentary elections in 2006 (1.95%) and 2011 (2.21%) Perdikis was able to defend his mandate for the Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon. In the last parliamentary election in May 2016, Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon received 4.81%, almost twice as many votes as in the previous election and won two seats in the House of Representatives. In addition to Perdikis, Charalambos Theopemptou became a member of the House of Representatives for the Nicosia constituency.

Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon has not yet presented a candidate in presidential elections. In 2003 and 2008 the party supported the candidate of Dimokratiko Komma Tassos Papadopoulos . In 2013 it was not possible to agree on any candidate to be supported within the party. In the 2018 presidential election , the party supported the Dimokratiko Komma candidate Nikolas Papadopoulos .

Since 2006 Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon has been the Commissioner for Environment in the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. Charalambos Theopemptou took over this post between July 2006 and February 2013 and Ioanna Panayiotou has been Environment Commissioner since February 2013 .

Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon has been a full member of the European Green Party (EGP) since 1998 . After the Republic of Cyprus joined the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2014, Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon also took part in European elections , but was unable to win any of the six mandates in the 2004 and 2009 elections. In the 2014 European elections , the Kinima Ikologon - Synergasia Politon joined an electoral alliance with the Kinima Sosialdimokraton (EDEK). The electoral alliance won one of the six mandates with 7.68% of the vote and sent Dimitris Papadakis from EDEK as a member of parliament.
