Klaus-Dieter Schenk

Klaus-Dieter Schenk (born May 18, 1955 in Dachwig ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Schenk began cycling in 1967 at BSG Traktor Elxleben . In 1969 he was delegated to the performance center in Erfurt. His first success was the third place at the GDR championship in the single pursuit of the youth B class in 1970. Schenk was GDR champion in 1975 with his club mate Helmut Taudte in two-man team driving . In that year he was appointed to the GDR national team to start the Tour of Holland , which he finished 59th. In 1976 he was third in the championship in two-man team driving, again with Taudte as a partner. In 1979 he drove the GDR tour and finished 27th. He started for the SC Turbine Erfurt .
