Klaus Peter Cadsky

Klaus Peter Robert Cadsky (born August 3, 1937 in Hanover ; † March 11, 2011 in Solothurn ; resident in Opfikon ), with the pseudonym Nico , was a German - Swiss cartoonist .

Life

One of around 35,000 caricatures that Nico drew for the Tages-Anzeiger : Sutermeister deselection after the student book affair .

At the age of fourteen, Cadsky began an apprenticeship as a gravure ink toucher at the H. Osterwald printing company in Hanover. In 1957 he went to Lucerne, Switzerland , where he worked for the Luzerner Neusten Nachrichten . He married for the first time in Lucerne, from which his first son comes.

The Nebelspalter became aware of Nico when they saw his first caricatures in Stern magazine and hired him as a freelancer. In 1966 he became editor-in-chief there, while also working as a live cartoonist for Swiss television . In 1968 Nico switched to the Tages-Anzeiger because he did not agree with the Nebelspalters' Vietnam policy. In the same year he divorced his wife and moved to Zurich .

He met his second wife, the news anchor Katrin Frey , on Swiss television . They have two children together. After 37 years and 35,000 caricatures on the Tages-Anzeiger , Nico switched to Blick . Two years later he went to the AZ Medien group , where he worked until his death. In March 2011, at the age of 73, he died of a second heart attack .
