The Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs (also Commissioner for Oceans ) is a member of the European Commission . After the EU expansion in 2004 , the department was separated from the department for agriculture, rural development and fisheries . The incumbent has been Virginijus Sinkevičius since December 2019 .
