Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation
The Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation is a member of the European Commission . The department has existed since 1967 with different names and layouts; most recently it was called research and innovation until 2014 .
The current incumbent in the von der Leyen Commission, which has been in office since December 2019, is Marija Gabriel , who also heads the Education and Culture Commission department .
