Komsomolski ( Russian Комсомо́льский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Mordovia ( Russia ) with 13,513 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located about 50 km northeast of the republic capital Saransk on the upper reaches of the right Alatyr tributary Nuja.

Komsomolski belongs to the Tschamsinka Rajon and is located about 5 km northeast of its administrative center Tschamsinka .

history

The settlement was created not far from the village of Alexejewka in connection with the construction of a large cement works based on a nearby limestone deposit until 1952 (considered to be the year of foundation). In 1955 urban-type settlement status was given. The place name refers to the communist youth organization Komsomol .

Economy and Infrastructure

The building company is the cement works, which today belongs to OAO Mordowzement , one of the most important cement producers in Russia. In addition, the building materials plant ( fiber cement products ) of OAO Lato is located in Komsomolski .

Komsomolski is located on the 1894 by the Moscow-Kazan Railway opened and today by the Gorkier Railway operated railway Ruzayevka  - Kanash . At kilometer 98 there is a stop , at kilometer 100, northeast of the settlement, the Nuja train station. Road connection exists to Tschamsinka, where the trunk road R178 from Saransk to Ulyanovsk passes.
