Konrad Feiereis
Konrad Feiereis (born January 14, 1931 in Glogau , Lower Silesia (since 1945 Głogów , Poland ); † July 15, 2012 in Erfurt ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian as well as a religious philosopher .
Life
Konrad Feiereis was the son of the district chief inspector Alois Feiereis and his wife Elisabeth, born. Otto. After the expulsion in 1945, the family found accommodation, first in Lohndorf , then in Gaustadt .
Feiereis studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Koenigstein in Koenigstein im Taunus and at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Freiburg im Breisgau . He was ordained a priest on August 1, 1954 in Neuzelle . He was a chaplain in Beeskow , Storkow and at the Holy Cross Church in Görlitz . From 1959 to 1965 he was a research assistant at the Philosophical-Theological Studies in Erfurt. In 1965 he was at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a dissertation on the transformation of natural theology into philosophy of religion. A contribution to the German intellectual history of the 18th century to the Doctor theologiae doctorate . From 1965 to 1967 Feiereis was the parish administrator in Königshain and a lecturer at the Görlitz catechism seminar. 1967/1968 he was a lecturer and from 1968 to 1974 lecturer in philosophy at the Philosophical-Theological Study in Erfurt.
On March 5, 1974, Feiereis was appointed to succeed Erich Kleineidam as a full professor of philosophy at the Philosophical-Theological Studies in Erfurt and the later theological faculty of the University of Erfurt . He held the office of rector several times. At the same time he was pastor and pastor in Erfurt- Gispersleben .
Feiereis was editor of the Erfurt Theological Writings and Erfurt Theological Studies for many years . He also published numerous theological works that the authorities allowed reprinting in the GDR, including writings by Josef Pieper . In 1999 he retired.
Konrad Feiereis's academic work focused on the discussion and dialogue between Catholic theology and Marxism and the atheistic philosophy of the GDR. In 1986 he took part in the symposium “Society and Ethical Values” (known as the “Dialogue Meeting of Christians and Marxists”) organized by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Vatican in Budapest . There he gave the widely acclaimed lecture on “The Coexistence of Christians and Marxists in the GDR”. This resulted in an intense debate with Milan Machovec .
Feiereis was consultor in the papal secretariat for the dialogue with the non-believers (Secretariatus pro non credentibus).
Konrad Feiereis died on July 15, 2012 in the Catholic Hospital Erfurt and was buried on July 21 of the same year after the Requiem in the Erfurt Cathedral at the main cemetery in Erfurt .
