Johann Konrad Christian Karl Jobst von der Leithen (born on February 6, 1772 at Haus Laer ; died on December 11, 1829 there ) was a Prussian administrative officer and district administrator for the districts of Dortmund , Hagen and, most recently, Bochum . As the owner of the manor , he owned the Laer house near Bochum.

The von der Leithen family belongs to the Westphalian nobility of the county of Mark . Since the 15th century Haus Laer has owned it as the family seat. Konrad's parents were the master of Haus Laer, Steinkuhl and the associated Haus Sypen, Johann Albert Gisbert Jobst von der Leithen and his wife, Isabella Elisabeth Friederike von der Leithen, née von der Berswordt, called Wallrabe.

School and education

Konrad von der Leithen attended the Archigymnasium in Dortmund from 1785 to 1787 and then the grammar school in Weilburg until 1789 . In the same year he joined the Prussian Leibkarabineri Regiment. In 1790 he was promoted to cornet and in 1793 to the rank of second lieutenant before he was dismissed from Prussian military service in 1802.

Career

In the midst of the political changes under Napoleon and barely eight weeks after the Peace of Pressburg , Konrad von der Leithen was proposed on February 18, 1806 by the Brandenburg knighthood as district administrator of the Wetter district . Subject to examination, he received his appointment on May 13, 1806. After passing the examination before the senior examination commission in Berlin on September 13, 1806, the definitive appointment followed on October 22, 1806. On April 30, 1809, his function as district administrator officially ended. During the French period, von der Leithen did not hold any position in direct civil service - within the Grand Duchy of Berg .

On August 3, 1811, von der Leithen was appointed grand-ducal Bergisch economic commissioner for the Mailoher community division. During the Wars of Liberation , he finally commanded the Landsturm in the Dortmund district as commander in chief .

In 1816 the governments and the subordinate groups were formed in the province of Westphalia, which was now part of Prussia . During this phase von der Leithen addressed several requests to transfer the district office of the Bochum district. Ultimately, on August 1, 1816, the administration of the Dortmund district was temporarily transferred to him. In 1817 he was appointed district administrator of the Hagen district, from where, after repeated requests, he was finally transferred to Bochum on April 25, 1822, in whose district his manor Haus Laer was also located. He died on duty.

Konrad von der Leithen married Henriette Karoline Christine Lehmann on December 30, 1798 in Sandau near Magdeburg (born on October 6, 1768 in Zerbst (?); Died on January 6, 1845 at Haus Laer), a daughter of the court preacher Johann Gottfried August Lehmann and his wife Johanna Sophie Lehmann, b. Heintze. The von der Leithen - Lehmann marriage resulted in three sons and two daughters. After his death, his son Ludwig (died 1832) and then his brother Gisbert (died 1871) ran Haus Laer. Through his widow (died 1895) it then came into the possession of her son-in-law, the Kommerzienrat Gustav Frielinghaus.
