Kwame Amponsah Karikari (born January 21, 1992 ) is a Ghanaian soccer player . The striker made his debut in Swedish professional football in 2011 and has played in Sweden and Turkey since then.

Career

Karikari played for International Allies FC , for which he played in the second division of his home country. There, sports director Jens Andersson and head scout Björn Wesström from the traditional Swedish club AIK watched him and brought the striker to Sweden shortly before the end of the transfer period at the end of March 2011 after one and a half years in the Ghanaian adult sector, where he signed a contract that was valid until 2014. There he replaced the Pontus Engblom and Yussuf Saleh, who had been awarded at the beginning of the year, as the third attacker and was rated by the media as the "Crown Prince" for the African strikers Mohamed Bangura and Ibrahim Teteh Bangura . At the beginning of the 2011 season , he came as a substitute irregularly in the Allsvenskan for a few short appearances. After an injury by Mohamed Bangura, he made his starting line-up debut in July against Gefle IF .

Ibrahim Bangura left the club for Turkey in August, and Karikari succeeded him in the forward position. On August 15, he scored his first competitive goal for AIK in a 1-0 away win at IFK Norrköping with the decisive goal. Until the end of the season he vacillated between bench and starting line-up. Shortly before the start of the following season, the club loaned him to the second division team Degerfors IF , in the Superettan he was one of the regular players until the loan period expired in summer and was one of the club's most successful shooters with six goals this season - only outstripped him within the club until the end of the season Christopher Brandeborn and Peter Samuelsson . Initially with AIK regular players and especially in the surprising 2-0 away win against CSKA Moscow after a 0-1 first leg defeat in the play-off round of the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League as a goal scorer for the 1-0 lead, decisive for the group stage involved, he found himself on the bench more often at the end of the season. Nevertheless, he was also successful in the European Cup against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk as a scorer, despite a 1-0 win over and a 1-1 draw against former European Cup winners PSV Eindhoven , he missed with the team around Martin Kayongo-Mutumba , Daniel Majstorović , Nils- Eric Johansson and Celso Borges as bottom of the group made it through the competition.

Even at the beginning of the 2013 season , Karikari did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player at AIK. At the beginning of July, the club therefore made a loan agreement with the Turkish club Balıkesirspor starting July 22 , which also includes a purchase option. At the end of the season he returned to his previous club despite eleven goals this season with which he contributed to promotion to the Süper Lig . Once again, however, he was only in the second line, until the end of the year he played four games as a substitute in the Allsvenskan season in 2014 .

In mid-January 2015, Karikari moved within Allsvenskan to league competitor Halmstads BK , with whom he signed a two-year contract.

For the 2015/16 season he was loaned again by Balıkesirspor. In December 2015 he left the club.
