Nils-Eric Johansson (born January 13, 1980 in Stockholm ), also called "Nisse", is a former Swedish football player . The defender , who won the German championship title with FC Bayern Munich , the Blackburn Rovers the League Cup and with AIK Solna in 2009 the Swedish double from the championship and national cup , made his debut in the senior national team in 2002 .

Career

Beginning

Johansson started playing football at IFK Viksjö , a sports club in the Järfälla municipality in Stockholm County , before moving to Stockholm club IF Brommapojkarna in 1995 , which is known for its youth work. After two years he left the club for AIK Solna . Here, too, his stay was only brief, as he moved from the youth department of the multiple Swedish champions to the German record champions FC Bayern Munich in the summer.

Abroad and in the national team

At Bayern Munich Johansson initially played in the A-youth and later in the amateur team in the Regionalliga Süd . On May 15, 1999 (32nd matchday) he made his debut in the 2-0 defeat in the away game against 1. FC Nürnberg as a substitute for Thomas Linke from the 82nd minute in the Bundesliga . On May 29, 1999 (34th matchday) he came in a 2-1 win in the away game against Leverkusen for another short assignment; he came on in the 82nd minute for Lothar Matthäus . In the following season, however, he was no longer used in the professional team, but played regularly in the second team. At the same time, he had played his way into the Swedish U-21 team , in which, in contrast to the club, he was able to fight for a regular place in the defensive line.

In the summer of 2000 Johansson joined 1. FC Nürnberg. At the "Club" he was given a regular place in the defense chain by coach Klaus Augenthaler at the side of Marek Nikl , Tomasz Kos and Frank Wiblishauser . Only from his ten yellow cards received two games suspension during the season , he came to 32 season appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga and contributed with goals against Arminia Bielefeld and Borussia Mönchengladbach to first place in the 2nd Bundesliga and the resulting recovery of the Franconian club . He also stayed in the regular formation in the Bundesliga and made eight appearances in the first division by the end of September. He left Germany on October 1st and moved to the Premier League for the Blackburn Rovers for eight million DM .

For his new club, Johannson made his debut on October 10 in a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough FC in the League Cup , four days later he was on the field for the first time in the Premier League in a 7-1 win over West Ham United . With the coach Graeme Souness managed team to players like Brad Friedel , Damien Duff , Andy Cole and Henning Berg he moved into the final of the League Cup, in which he on 24 February through goals from Cole and Matthew Jansen with a goal of Christian Ziege won the title with a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur . As a result, the Swedish national coaching duo considered Tommy Söderberg and Lars Lagerbäck Johansson in the national team. In the first international match following the 2002 World Cup , a 1-1 draw against the Russian national team , he made his debut as a substitute for Johan Mjällby in the national shirt . Until the end of the year he was able to stay in the squad of the selection team.

In the Premier League season 2003/04 Johansson lost his regular place. In January, AIK reported for the first time interest in signing the Swede, as the club had gaps in defense after the departures of Benjamin Kibebe , Gary Sundgren and Karl Corneliusson . Ultimately, a transfer did not materialize. After he had found himself with the team until the end of the season only in the relegation battle, Mark Hughes took over the coaching post for the following season . Even under the new coach, he was only used irregularly. He therefore decided not to extend the contract, which was running out in the summer of 2005, and to give it up just like Craig Short .

Johansson's new club was Leicester City in the second-rate Football League Championship . With the club from central England he played against relegation to the third division. Since his contract with the English second division team expired in the summer of 2007, several Swedish clubs such as AIK, Hammarby IF and IFK Göteborg were interested in signing the defender in the spring of the year. At the beginning of May, the Danish club Brøndby IF entered the poker game for the central defender.

Return to Sweden

On May 21, Johansson decided to return to Sweden and joined his former youth club AIK. At the traditional club from Solna, he immediately established himself in the regular formation alongside players such as Patrik Bojent , Mauro Iván Óbolo and Markus Jonsson . During the 2007 season , in which he made his debut on July 3 (12th matchday) in a 2-0 home win against Trelleborgs FF , he ousted long-time team captain Daniel Tjernström from his position. After a place in the international competition was missed in the following year under coach Rikard Norling , he returned with the team under his successor Mikael Stahre back on the road to success. After a 2-1 away win at direct rivals IFK Göteborg on the last match day of the 2009 season on November 1 of the year, he won the Lennart Johansson Cup for the Swedish championship, to which he had contributed in 29 appearances with three goals this season. A week later, the teams met again, after a 2-0 win with goals from Antônio Flávio and Mauro Iván Óbolo, Johansson was able to raise the trophy as captain. In the spring of the following year he triumphed again alongside Tjernström, Sebastián Eguren , Walid Atta and Kenny Pavey when Antônio Flávio shot the club in the Supercup to a 1-0 win against IFK Göteborg.

Shortly before, Johansson had extended his contract with AIK in January 2010 to the end of 2013. The following season was less successful, not least due to the departure of some top performers for the club, as he slipped into the relegation battle. After Björn Wesström had replaced the coach Stahre, who had moved to Greece, the Scot Alex Miller saved the club from relegation to the second-class Superettan . Also in the 2011 season he was an undisputed regular player - only after being sent off and a yellow card suspension he missed two league games - and led the club back on the road to success as a top performer. The team, trained by former assistant coach Andreas Alm since the beginning of the year , finished second in the table behind triple winner Helsingborgs IF at the end of the season and thus made it into the qualifying rounds for the 2012/13 Europa League . A short time later he also pushed his further development in addition to the sports field and began at the end of November 2011 at the side of Anders Andersson , Marcus Lantz , Mattias Lindström and Tobias Linderoth in a special course for players with at least five years of professional experience at the Swedish Association. On February 18, 2018, he announced his retirement from active football.
