La'Vere Lawrence Corbin-Ong (born April 22, 1991 in London ) is a Malaysian - Canadian football player .

Career

Beginnings

Corbin-Ong started his career after moving to Canada at the age of six, with the Diamond Backs a team from the Lynn Valley Soccer Association . During his school days he played for Argyle Secondary School between 2005 and 2009 and for Capilano University Blues between 2009 and 2010. He then played for the Vancouver Whitecaps . He was also used in the club's reserve team. In 2012 he left the Vancouver Whitecaps.

FC Pommern Greifswald

After about six months without a club, he joined the German club FC Pommern Greifswald for the 2012/13 season . He made his debut for his new club in Season North of the Football Oberliga Nordost on August 12, 2012. In the 1-0 win against BFC Dynamo , coach Eckart Märzke considered him in the starting line-up and should play through. Against FC Anker Wismar he was able to score his first league goal on March 30, 2013. In the win against Wismar, he scored the 3-2 final score in the 78th minute. In the 1-1 draw on April 19, 2014 against SV Lichtenberg 47 , he played his 50th league game for Greifswald.

Berlin AK 07

After two seasons in Greifswald, he moved to the German capital for the 2014/15 season for the Berliner AK 07 . He made his debut in the Regionalliga Nordost on August 3, 2014 for his new club. He was substituted on for Atakan Yigitoglu at halftime by coach Dietmar Demuth in the 1-0 win against VfB Germania Halberstadt . He scored his first goal for Berlin on March 22, 2015 in the game against FSV Wacker 90 Nordhausen . With his goal in the 83rd minute, he headed his team to a 1-0 victory. He played his 50th league game for the BAK on February 14, 2016 in a 4-0 win against Wacker Nordhausen.

FSV Frankfurt

For the 2016/17 season he left the Berlin AK and joined the second division relegated FSV Frankfurt . In the 1-1 draw on July 30, 2016 against Holstein Kiel , he made his debut for FSV in the 3rd division and thus his professional debut. He was in the starting line-up for coach Roland Vrabec and completed the entire 90 minutes.

After the relegation of FSV Frankfurt from the 3rd division , Corbin-Ong moved to the Dutch second division team GO Ahead Eagles Deventer. In Deventer, he terminated his contract in November 2017 after making 9 appearances in the Eerste Divisie in the first half of the season .

Malaysia

After his contract termination in the Netherlands , he moved to Malaysia , the country of his ancestors, to the Malaysia Super League club Johor Darul Ta'zim FC , where he signed a contract valid for the 2018 season until November 2018 on November 23, 2017.

National team

On March 22, 2017, Corbin-Ong made his debut for 22 minutes in the friendly game of the Canadian national team against the selection of Scotland . He came on in the 68 minute for the player Maxim Tissot . Corbin-Ong, who was born in London in Great Britain to immigrants from Barbados and Malaysia , is eligible to play for Canada, England , Barbados and Malaysia .

He has been playing for the Malaysian national soccer team since June 2019 . He made his debut in a friendly against Nepal . Corbin-Ong scored his first goal for Malaysia on June 7, 2019 in the World Cup qualifier against East Timor .
