Lakeside is a census-designated place (CDP) in Clay County in the US state of Florida with 30,943 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lakeside is about 5 km south of Jacksonville and about 20 km north of Green Cove Springs . Florida State Roads 21 and 224 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 30,943 inhabitants were distributed over 12,292 households. The population density was 787.4 inh / km². 80.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 10.0% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 3.0% as Asian Americans . 1.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.7% to several ethnic groups. 8.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 24.1% of all households lived in 36.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 76.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.72 people and the average family size was 3.06 people.

27.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 48.6% of the population were male and 51.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 60,593, with 7.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 91.91% of the population, 5.22% spoke Spanish and 2.87% had another mother tongue.
