Langer Haussee in the southern part of the Gamengrund north of Strausberg |
The Lange Haussee is a channel lake in the municipality of Höhenland in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland .
Natural location
The lake is located in the ice age meltwater channel of the Gamengrund , which cuts through the high plateau of Barnim as a geotope , in the large contiguous forest area north of Strausberg near Berlin , which extends from Hirschfelde in the southwest to Sternebeck in the northeast. There are about 600 m between the north shore of the lake and the outskirts of Leuenberg .
The water level is on average 77.7 m above sea level. NHN , but is exposed to clear fluctuations of 1.5 to 2.5 m corresponding to the regional groundwater level. The lake belongs to an area with no surface drainage, but together with the two south-western neighboring lakes, Mittelsee and Gamensee , feeds the Fredersdorfer Mühlenfließ, which rises in the southernmost part of the Gamengrund, through natural underground drains .
The approximately 1.5 kilometer long lake is the second largest of the Gamengrund with an area of 14.5 hectares. It is surrounded by a narrow reed border and a stand of alder trees . The strip of reeds , one to three meters wide, is dominated by cattails . In the north-eastern part there are occasional reed , branchy hedgehog and pond horsetail , in the eastern part also the simple hedgehog . On the landward side of the reed beds are swamp sedge stocks , which change into young alder stocks . The long lake has diving corridors with the eared thousand-leaf , the floating pondweed and the alpine pondweed .
Economic use, tourism and leisure activities
The Lange Hausee is used both as a bathing lake and as a fishing lake. Perch , pikeperch , pike , carp and roach are fished . The lake is also managed by a fishing company in Prötzel . The route of the former Wriezener Bahn , which crosses the Gamengrund between Mittelsee and Langem Haussee, is used by tourists for trolley trips.
Surname
The naming is motivated by the relative length of the water. In the Schmettauschen map series (1767–1787) it is recorded as "Langer Haus-See". Later it was called - with the same name as a lake in Gamengrund north of Leuenberg - "Langer See". The old name was taken over again in 2016 by the Brandenburg State Office for the Environment , taking into account the current spelling .
