Larry Pine (born March 3, 1945 in Tucson , Arizona ) is an American actor .

life and career

Larry Pine has been an actor since the 1960s, initially working in the theater. He made his Broadway debut in 1968 with a role in a production of Cyrano de Bergerac . In 1978 Pine made his film debut in The Great Bustle of Georgie's and Bonnie's Pictures , directed by James Ivory . Since then he has appeared regularly in American film and television as a supporting actor. He is particularly a favorite of director Wes Anderson , who used him in his films The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Moonrise Kingdom (2012) and Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). From 2014 to 2017, the character actor played the role of minority leader Bob Birch in the hit television series House of Cards .

Larry Pine has been married to the composer and designer Margaret Pine since 1969.
