Oceania Athletics Championships 1996
The third Oceania Athletics Championships took place from November 28 to 30, 1996 in the Australian city of Townsville , Queensland . 42 competitions were held, 22 for men and 20 for women. The most successful nation was New Zealand (14 gold medals) for the third time in a row, ahead of Australia (12 gold medals); the most successful participant was the Tongan athlete Siulolo Liku with three gold and one silver medal. Four women's competitions were completed by just one participant, five other disciplines, including one for men, were only completed by two athletes.
