Leland Jones Orser (born August 6, 1960 in San Francisco , California ) is an American actor .

life and career

Orser made his debut on the Chicago Soul television series in 1990 . This was followed by guest appearances in series such as The Golden Girls and Cheers . He has also appeared in A Terribly Kind Family several times . Orser had his first appearance in a movie in 1995 in a minor supporting role in the thriller Seven with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman . After further roles in Independence Day and Escape from LA , Orser played in Alien - The Rebirth at the side of Sigourney Weaver in 1997 , a colonist kidnapped by space pirates, who was used for breeding purposes. Orser also embodied other roles in The Bone Hunter with Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie and in Resurrection - The Resurrection at the side of Christopher Lambert .

As a television actor, Orser appeared in series. In the hospital series Emergency Room , he played the supporting role of the surgeon Dr. Lucien Dubenko, a confused and criminal holographic character in an episode of Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager (1997) .

His friend, the director David Cronenberg , named the two killers Leland Jones and William Orser as a token of his appreciation in his film A History of Violence .

Leland Orser is probably the only actor who got all roles in serial killer films. After he played a victim in Seven , he slipped into Resurrection in 1999 in the role of an officer looking for serial killer Robert Joy, only to slip into the role of the perpetrator himself in The Bone Hunter that same year .

Since 2000 he has been married to the actress Jeanne Tripplehorn , with whom he has a son (* 2002). He had his first marriage from 1986 to 1989 with the actress Roma Downey .
