Leonie Felle

Leonie Felle (born May 17, 1979 in Lindenberg im Allgäu ) is a German visual artist and musician .

Life

Leonie Felle studied from 2001 to 2004 at the State Academy for Photo Design in Munich and completed her training as a photo designer. She then studied from 2004 to 2011 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the sculpture class of Olaf Metzel as a master student . The artist lives in Munich and Rott am Inn .

Visual arts

Leonie Felle's works develop in the interplay of different media and artistic forms of expression and often refer to the construction of time (s) , to anachronisms and impermanence . The artist uses photography , installation , text and sound to develop narrative structures and to create a productive tension between the individual elements.

music

Music and performance have an equal place in Felle's work alongside her sculptural work.

“Many of Leonie Felle's works arise from songs or are supplemented by them. The lyrics and songs are set to music that seem like diary entries, intense and intimate at the same time. In addition to this use of musical elements, the artist with the band »Leonie singt« also pursues a performative, musical practice in which the texts on stage and in the interplay of the musicians and performed live in front of an audience experience a different attribution. As the author and composer of her songs, Felle has appeared under the name " Leonie singt " since 2009 with Jakob Egenrieder (bass), Hagen Keller (guitar and accordion) and Sascha Schwegeler (drums). The band is represented by the Munich independent label " Gutfeeling Records ".

Community projects

Leonie Felle works regularly with other artists and takes part in joint projects. In 2019 she developed the precarious Singspiel " PREKÄROTOPIA" together with Beate Engl and Franka Kaßner , which premiered in the Kunstbau of the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus . Since 2011 she has been involved in the art initiative " COLLABORATION _", which initiates international exchanges of artists without any institutional connection.
