Leopold Ernst Philipp Friedrich von Buch (born March 9, 1852 in Schwerin ; † January 14, 1919 there ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 22nd Cavalry Brigade .

Life

Leopold was a son of the Mecklenburg colonel a. D. Helmut von Buch (1814–1878) and his wife Mathilde, née von Koch (1823–1885).

Military career

After visiting the school in Güstrow studied book of University of Goettingen law and entered on October 12, 1872 as a cadet in the Hessian Infantry Regiment. 82 of the Prussian army . Initially without a patent , Buch became captain and squadron chief on May 22, 1859 . He received the patent for his rank on September 21, 1889. On November 17, 1892 he was transferred to the Kurmärkische Dragoon Regiment No. 14 in Colmar and at the end of January 1895 he was appointed adjutant to the General Command of the IV Army Corps . Left in this position, Buch was transferred to the Magdeburg Dragoon Regiment No. 6 in Diedenhofen on September 12, 1895, when he was promoted to Major . With the appointment as regular staff officer in the 2nd Guards Uhlan Regiment , Buch resigned on April 1, 1898 in the troop service. On April 22nd, 1902, Buch was assigned to Wuerttemberg as a lieutenant colonel and was appointed commander of the "König" (2nd Wuerttembergisches) No. 26 dragoon regiment in Stuttgart . In this position he rose to colonel in mid-March 1905 and on January 27, 1907 was released from his command in Württemberg to commander of the 22nd Cavalry Crigade in Kassel . On the occasion of the festival of the Order, Buch received the Crown Order II. Class in January 1909 and was promoted to Major General on January 27, 1909. Due to illness, he took his leave and was on 16 July 1909 under award of the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves and board for disposition made. He died on January 14, 1919 in Schwerin.

Buch married Margarete Countess von Bernstorff (1870–1908) on June 15, 1889 in Ludwigslust . The sons Helmuth (* 1890) and Johann-Georg (* 1891) and the daughter Udi (1899–1945), who married Friedrich Freiherr von Falkenhausen (1902–1971), emerged from the marriage.
