geography
The north of Pegnitz-Kuppenalb located village is one of 23 officially designated districts in Upper Franconia town of Betzenstein. It is located about two and a half kilometers northwest of the center of Betzenstein and is at an altitude of 547 m above sea level. NHN .
history
Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the village became an independent rural community to which the hamlet of Altenwiesen had also belonged. In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the entire municipality of Leupoldstein was incorporated into the city of Betzenstein on January 1, 1972. In 1987 Leupoldstein had 160 inhabitants.

The federal road 2 runs through the place coming from the southwest of Hiltpoltstein and continues in a northeast direction to Weidensees . In the northeastern local area of Leupoldstein, the main road is crossed by the state road St 2163 , which connects Weidensees with Betzenstein. Access to the Federal Motorway 9 is possible at the Plech junction about seven kilometers to the south-east.
