The north of Pegnitz-Kuppenalb located village is one of 23 officially designated districts in Upper Franconia town of Betzenstein. It is located about one and a half kilometers east-northeast of the center of Betzenstein and is at an altitude of 479 m above sea level. NHN .
history
As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the village became part of the independent rural community of Ottenberg , which also included the village of Höchstädt and the hamlet of Kröttenhof . In the course of the communal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , Mergners was incorporated into the city of Betzenstein on January 1, 1972, together with the entire Ottenberg community. In 1987 Mergners had 75 residents.
traffic
The connection to the public road network takes place mainly through the district road BT 31 , which runs through the town coming from Betzenstein in the west and leads eastwards into the Veldensteiner Forest . After four kilometers, it joins the district road BT 28 about a kilometer south of the horseshoe forest house . Access to the Federal Motorway 9 is possible at the Plech junction, about three and a half kilometers southeast of the village.
