Stierberg is a Franconian village in the northern Franconian Jura .

geography

The village is one of 23 districts of the town of Betzenstein in the southern part of Upper Franconia . It is located about two and a half kilometers west of the center of Betzenstein and is at an altitude of 542  m above sea level. NHN .

history

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the village became an independent rural community to which the villages of Eckenreuth , Hetzendorf , Klausberg and Reipertsgesee , as well as the hamlets of Hunger , Münchs and Waiganz belonged. In the course of the communal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s , the entire municipality of Stierberg was incorporated into the city of Betzenstein on January 1, 1972. In 1987 Stierberg had 75 inhabitants.

traffic

The connection to the public road network is mainly established by a communal road that continues from the federal highway 2 , which runs past the town about one and a half kilometers northwest of the town , through the town in an easterly direction to Betzenstein. Access to the Federal Motorway 9 is possible at the Plech junction, six kilometers east-southeast of the town.

On the south-eastern outskirts of Stierberg there are two listed buildings, namely the Stierberg castle ruins and the former bailiwick house of the castle.
