Lily Mariye

Lily Mariye (born September 25, 1964 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) is an American actress and filmmaker . She is best known for her role as sister Lily Jarvik in the television series Emergency Room .

Life

Mariye graduated from UCLA and received a BA in acting.

She made her first film appearance in The Most Beautiful Whorehouse in Texas in 1982 . Several guest appearances in television series followed, such as in Fame - Der Weg zum Ruhm (1982), Familienbande (1984), Chief Physician Dr. Westphall (1985), Jake and McCabe - Through Thick and Thin (1989), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), Melrose Place (1995–1996), Chicago Hope (1996), Ally McBeal (2002), Just in case, Amy (2005), Shameless (2011), and Navy CIS: LA (2013). From 1994 to 2009 she played the sister Lily Jarvik in the television series Emergency Room . She and colleagues won the Screen Actors Guild Award four times for portraying this role .

Other films she starred in include American Geisha (1986), Switch - Die Frau im Manne (1991), The Skull Murderer (1992), Shadow and the Curse of Khan (1994), American Pie Presents: The Next Generation (2005) and exceptional situation (2010). She is also an award-winning stage actress.

In 2000 Mariye worked as a director , screenwriter and film producer in the short film The Shangri-la Café . The film has been shown at over 25 film festivals around the world and won the Best Short Film Award at the Moondance International Film Festival (2001) and the Best Screenplay Award at the Brussels International Independent Film Festival (2000). The screenplay for the film also won several awards, such as at the Ohio Independent Film Festival (2003) and the Gaffers Film Festival . Mariye received the Filmmaker of the Year award from the National Organization for Women .

In 2012, the filmmaker released her film Model Minority at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival , where it received three awards. He received two awards each in 2013 at the London Independent Film Festival and the Asians on Film Festival as well as one each at the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival (2012), the Asian American International Film Festival (2012), and the Las Vegas Film Festival (2012 ) and the Sacramento International Film Festival (2013).

Mariye has been married to saxophonist Boney James since September 1985 .
