Lisa Marie De Vanna (born November 14, 1984 in Fremantle near Perth ) is an Australian national soccer player and top scorer in her country.
De Vanna played for several clubs in Europe (including Doncaster Belles LFC , AIK Solna ) and in the USA ( Washington Freedom ). She never stayed with a club for more than two years. In Australia she played for Adelaide Sensation , Western Waves , Cockburn United , Spearwood United and Perth Glory, among others . Before moving to the US, she played for Brisbane Roar in the W-League .
She has been playing for the Australian national team since 2004.
On May 15, 2011, De Vanna was suspended for violating the team rules for the Games against New Zealand. But she was added to the squad for the World Cup and used in the first game against Brazil, where she missed a good chance to equalize 1-1 shortly before the end of the game.
In the first group game of the 2015 World Cup, she played her 100th international match and achieved the interim equalization with her 36th international goal in the 3-1 defeat against the USA. She has now scored seven goals in three world championships, four of them as a substitute. This makes her the most successful substitute in World Cup tournaments. In the quarterfinals against Japan, she made her 13th World Cup game, replacing Cheryl Salisbury (12 World Cup games) as the Australian record player. Their team lost to the defending champions with a goal in the final minutes, De Vanna had previously been replaced. Because of her performance, she was elected to the World Cup All-Star Team .
At the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympic Games , she and her team qualified for the Games in Rio de Janeiro , where they contributed the first goal to the 3-1 victory in the opening game against hosts Japan . It is the Australians' first victory in Japan against the Japanese. At the Olympic Games, after a 2-0 defeat against Canada , a 2-2 against eventual Olympic champion Germany and a 6-1 against Zimbabwe, they reached the quarter-finals as the best group third. De Vanna scored the first goal against Zimbabwe in the second minute. There they were eliminated on penalties against hosts Brazil after 120 minutes without a goal . In the penalty shoot-out, however, she was no longer able to participate, as she had already been substituted in the 75th minute. With eight games she is the Australian record player at the Olympic Games and with two goals each with Michelle Heyman she is also the best Australian goalscorer there.
On August 3, 2017, she set Kate Gill's record in the 6-1 win against Brazil in the last game of the Tournament of Nations with her 41st international goal and then increased it to 42 goals. The Australians won the tournament with three wins, including their first win against the USA.
In the 2018 Asian women's soccer championship , she had four appearances and reached the final against Japan with her team, but lost it 0: 1. By reaching the semi-finals, the Australians had already qualified for the 2019 World Cup. At the World Cup she made two appearances in the group stage. In the game against Jamaica , she made her 150th appearance in the national jersey. In the round of 16 they were eliminated on penalties against former world champions Norway . De Vanna was not used.
