Lisa Tjalve (born October 24, 1974 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Lisa Tjalve grew up in Copenhagen. Her talent for singing was discovered early by the Danish conductor Tage Mortensen . Between 1985 and 1991 she sang under his direction as a soloist in numerous concerts, television broadcasts and CD productions with the orchestras of the Danish Radio. In 1993 she completed her first private acting training with the Royal Danish actor Søren Weiss .

In the summer of 2000 she completed her diploma at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with distinction. In 2003 she passed her concert exam in the “soloist class” at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. In her first engagements the soprano sang at the Stadttheater Pforzheim , at the Teatro Vipiteno in Sterzing and at the Hebbel-Theater with the Berlin Contemporary Opera.

During her studies, the singer was engaged as a permanent member of the ensemble at the Lübeck Theater (2001–2003), where she played important specialist roles such as a. Despina from Così fan tutte , Lauretta from Gianni Schicchi , Rosina from The Barber of Seville , Sophie from Der Rosenkavalier and Valencienne from The Merry Widow Sang. The exposed coloratura roles such as Agnes in The School of Women by Rolf Liebermann and Zémire from Zémire et Azor by André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry were also part of her Lübeck repertoire. Jürgen Kesting , a German opera critic, wrote in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that Lisa Tjalve “ did justice to the zémire with sparkling clean coloratura and fine dynamic nuances as well as the grace of the appearance of a real Belle”. In 2003 the singer left her position as a permanent member of the Lübeck Theater ensemble at her own request, but remained associated with this theater as a guest. Further repertoire roles were Calisto from La Calisto , Iphise from Dardanus , Maria from West Side Story and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro .

Lisa Tjalve subsequently performed as a soloist a. a. with favorite works such as Carmina Burana by Carl Orff , the Stabat mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi , the Messiah by Georg Friedrich Handel and The Creation by Joseph Haydn and sang in operettas and operas in the Cologne Philharmonic , the Berlin Philharmonic , the Beethoven Hall in Bonn , the Henry Crown Symphony Hall in Jerusalem , the Harmonie in Heilbronn , the music and congress hall Lübeck , the Liederhalle Stuttgart , the concert hall of the Danish Radio and on the stage of the Salzburg Easter Festival . Here she met conductors such as Claudio Abbado , Marcus Creed , Helmuth Froschauer , Konrad Junghänel and Uri Segal as well as the directors Calixto Bieito , Michael Hampe , Anthony Pilavachi and Peter Stein and worked a. a. with the Berliner Philharmoniker , the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin , the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra , the WDR Sinfonieorchester , the Lübeck Philharmoniker and the orchestras of the Danish radio.

In 2005 her portrayal as the insane Cecil in Hosekræmmeren by Svend S. Schulz at the Fynske Opera in Denmark received praise. For example, the opera singer and critic Ulrich Cold wrote in the Danish newspaper Børsen of a singer at a “sky-high artistic level”, who has “voice, looks, technique and joy of playing in a big way”. In 2006 she founded the Trio Bel Canto together with the Danish tenor David Danholt and the pianist Ulrich Stærk . In the 2006/2007 season she sang the role of Calisto in the rediscovered Handel opera Giove in Argo at the Margravial Opera Bayreuth with the Concert Royal orchestra and made her debut as Pinocchio in the opera of the same name by the composer Pierangelo Valtinoni in the German premiere at the Komische Berlin Opera. In 2007 she was described in the well-known Danish newspaper BT as "Denmark's new opera hope".

On tour with the Musikdramatisk Theater Denmark, Lisa Tjalve could also be heard in 2008 and 2011 as a musette in La Bohème . In 2009 she was invited again to sing the lead role in the opera Pinocchio at the Komische Oper Berlin, where she also performed Melissa in Calixto Bieito's production of Christoph Willibald Gluck's opera Armide . This was followed by the Mater Gloriosa in Gustav Mahler's “Symphony of a Thousand”, his 8th symphony in the Cologne Philharmonic, a. a. together with Janice Dixon and the conductor Heinz-Walter Florin . The singer has a close collaboration with the Heilbronn Symphony Orchestra and its conductor Peter Braschkat , as well as joint performances with her husband Marc Lingk in "Electronic Luck". She has been a guest at the Alte Oper in Erfurt for several years , where she holds the annual gala concerts a. a. Designed together with Gunther Emmerlich and Reinar Süss . In 2009/2010 she was also on tour with the Berliner Grammophoniker and the Berlin operetta star Heiko Reissig . a. in the Philharmonie Berlin. Since 2010 she has been working regularly with the Zeitgenössische Oper Berlin. So she sang in 2011 a. a. Morton Feldman's "I met Heine on the Rue Fürstenberg" in the film of the same name from the Berlin Contemporary Opera, in which she also otherwise plays a leading role. In 2012 she sang the leading role “Die Fremde” in the world premiere of Sidney Corbett's Opera Europa , also in a collaboration with the Zeitgenössische Oper Berlin.

Prices

Lisa Tjalve has won several international singing competitions. In 2007 she won the first prize in the field of operetta , the “ Renate Holm Operetta Prize” at the Paul Lincke Singing Competition , which is linked to the Wittenberge Elbland Festival . In addition, she won the “Engagement Prize” of the Elbland Festival, where she appeared together with the operetta legend Johannes Heesters and received the “Emmerich Kálmán Prize”. The award ceremony was broadcast on German television (RBB). In the same year she became a semi-finalist in the "D'Art lyrique" singing competition with Barbara Hendricks as chairman of the jury. In 2008 she was awarded the Gottlob Frick Medal of Honor, together with the well-known chamber singers Renate Holm , Heinz Holecek , Gwyneth Jones , Heinz Hagenau , Andrzej Saciuk and Peter Runge as well as the Austrian opera presenter Peter Dusek from ORF .

Artistic characteristics

Lisa Tjalve can be heard as an opera and operetta singer as well as a lieder and improvisation singer. Tjalve often jumped in for a role at very short notice, like in 2006 at the Komische Oper Berlin in the title role of the opera Pinocchio .

With the Trio Bel Canto, which she founded, she stages and designs opera and operetta evenings in Berlin and Copenhagen. The singer has lived in Berlin since 1993.
