List of members of the provisional Salzburg state assembly
This list of members of the provisional Salzburg state assembly lists all the members of the provisional Salzburg state assembly .
After the dissolution of Austria-Hungary had begun in October 1918, provisional state parliaments were constituted in November 1918 in the countries of the remaining “ German Austria ”. In the state of Salzburg , too, the 38-member state assembly was constituted on November 3, 1918, based on the mandate of the executive committee of the provisional national assembly, chaired by Johann Lackner, Robert Preußler and Max Ott. The composition was based on the result of the Reichstag election in 1911. The Christian Social Party (CSP) accordingly had 19 seats. The German Freedom Party (DFP) received 10 mandates and the Social Democratic Workers' Party of German Austria (SDAPDÖ) received 9 mandates .
Changes in the composition of the MPs were made before the first plenary session. Wenzel Müller was replaced by Eduard Baumgartner from SDAPDÖ, and Nikolaus Gumpold and Josef Piesinger replaced MPs Leonhard Steinwender and Alois Posch at CSP .
Functions
Country presidents
In the constituent meeting on November 7, 1918, Alois Winkler , Max Ott and Robert Preussler were elected presidents of the provisional state assembly. Winkler received 30 of 31 votes cast (after he had not voted himself), Ott and Preussler each received 31 votes. Johann Lackner , Karl Irresberger and Josef Breitenfelder were elected as their deputies and vice-presidents .
According to the law of November 14, 1918 regarding the assumption of state power in the federal states, the term “state president” was replaced by the title state governor. According to this law, in addition to the governor, two to four governor deputies were to be elected, with a governor and three deputies subsequently being elected in the 5th session on November 29, 1918. Together with 6 regional councilors, they formed the Winkler state government , with the state governor and his deputies subsequently chairing the state parliament.
