from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of members of the Salzburg state parliament (4th legislative period) lists all the members of the Salzburg state parliament in the 4th legislative period or 8th electoral period. The legislative period lasted from the constitution of the Landtag on July 2, 1959 to June 18, 1964. The constitution of the subsequent Landtag of the 5th legislative period took place on June 19, 1964.

In the state elections in 1959 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) won 14 of the 32 seats and thus lost one seat compared to the 1954 election. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) again won 13 seats, coming close to the ÖVP for the first time. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which appeared for the first time in 1959, achieved five mandates and was thus able to increase by one mandate compared to its predecessor party , the electoral party of the Independents (WdU).

After the members of the state parliament had been sworn in, the constituent meeting on July 2, 1959, elected the state government Klaus III , which succeeded the state government Klaus II .

Michael Haslinger (ÖVP), who has been the second deputy president of the state parliament since 1954, was confirmed in his office during the new legislative period.
