Hans Pexa

Hans Pexa (born September 4, 1919 in Hof near Salzburg ; † October 9, 1996 in Puch near Hallein ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and an employee. From 1949 to 1969 he was a member of the Salzburg State Parliament , from 1964 to 1969 First Deputy President of the State Parliament and from 1969 to 1974 State Councilor in the Salzburg State Government .

education and profession

After primary school, Pexa attended grammar school for three years and then completed an apprenticeship as a tailor in his parents' company. He passed the journeyman's examination in 1938, joined the Reich Labor Service in the same year and then did his military and war service from 1938 to 1945 in the Second World War. After his return from captivity, Pexa worked in 1945 as a clerk at the Hallein district administration and was then employed as the Puch local secretary from 1946 to 1947. From 1947 to 1956 he was employed by the construction workers' leave fund and employed by the Salzburg Chamber of Labor.

Politics and functions

Pexa began his political career in 1949 as a member of the municipal council of the municipality of Puch near Hallein. In 1949 he took over the office of deputy mayor and in 1954 was promoted to mayor of the municipality. From 1956 to 1969 and from 1974 to 1977 he was again a simple member of the community council.

Within the party, Pexa was District Secretary of the SPÖ Tennengau from 1964 to 1967, after which he was State Party Secretary of the SPÖ Salzburg from 1967 to 1969. He had already joined the Social Democratic Party in 1945, and between 1949 and 1954 he was local party chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Puch near Hallein. He also worked from 1949 to 1953 and from 1956 to 1965 as district party chairman of the SPÖ Tennengau. At the state level, he held the function of a member of the state party executive committee and the state party presidium of the SPÖ Salzburg between 1949 and 1974, where he held his highest office within the party as deputy state party chairman of the SPÖ Salzburg between 1972 and 1974. He was also a member of the SPÖ's federal party executive from 1969 to 1976.

Pexa was also involved from 1954 to 1974 as chairman of the "Working Group of Socialist Community Representatives" and was sworn in on December 1, 1949 as a member of the Salzburg state parliament. He served from 1959 to 1966 as deputy club chairman of the SPÖ parliamentary group and was club chairman from 1966 to 1969. Between June 19, 1964 and May 13, 1969, he held the office of First Deputy President of the State Parliament. Afterwards he was from May 14, 1969 to May 22, 1974, member of the state government of Lechner IV and subsequently from May 22 to 28, 1974 again a member of the Salzburg state parliament.
