Walter Vogl (politician)

Walter Vogl (born June 11, 1927 in Kufstein ; † October 29, 1996 in Salzburg ) was a social security lawyer, member of the state parliament and third president of the Salzburg state parliament .

Life

Walter Vogl attended elementary school from 1933 to 1938 and the high school for boys in Kufstein (Tyrol) from 1938 to 1946 . From 1943 to 1945 he did military service in the German Wehrmacht and for some time was a prisoner of war. He made up his Matura in 1948 at a high school graduate course at the commercial academy in Innsbruck. He then studied law at the University of Innsbruck until 1953 . He did his judicial practice in 1953/54 at the District Court of Kufstein and at the Regional Court of Innsbruck . In 1955 the doctorate to Dr. iur. , 1980 graduation as Mag. Iur.

His professional career began in 1954 as a legal officer at the Agricultural and Forestry Social Insurance Institute in Salzburg . In 1964 he was promoted to deputy director and in 1971 to director of the same. From 1974 to 1987 Vogl worked as the state director of the social insurance institute for farmers in Salzburg.

Political career

Walter Vogl began to be politically active in 1968. From 1968 to 1986 he was regional chairman of the Salzburg Seniors' Association. From May 22, 1974 to May 2, 1989 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1979 to 1984 deputy chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club. From 1984 to 1989 Vogl was the third president of the state parliament. From 1979 to 1982 he headed the ÖVP parliamentary group as chairman of the Salzburg State School Council. In addition, he was involved in the Austrian society “Save the Child” as vice president, worked as curator of the Black Cross and from 1970 to 1974 as vice president of the Austrian Welfare Service in Salzburg.

He was awarded the 1985 for his work Great Golden Badge of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria and in 1989 with the Great Medal of Salzburg awarded.
