Anton Bonimaier

Anton Bonimaier (born September 19, 1924 in Altenmarkt im Pongau ; † May 30, 2014 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and director of the agricultural school in Kleßheim. From 1964 to 1977 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament , from 1968 to 1969 second deputy state parliament president and from 1977 to 1983 regional councilor in the Salzburg state government.

education and profession

After primary school in Altenmarkt im Pongau, Bonimaier attended middle school in Unterpremstätten near Graz from 1936 to 1938 and then graduated from the Deutsche Heimschule Kreuzberg (today: private high school St. Rupert) in Bischofshofen between 1938 and 1943 . He was drafted into military service in 1943 and served in World War II until 1945. He then attended the Winklhof Agricultural College in Oberalm from 1945 to 1946 and passed his Matura in 1946 . From 1946 to 1949 Bonimaier studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna and graduated in 1949 in agriculture with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. from. As early as 1948 he entered the state service, teaching as a specialist teacher at the Winklhof agricultural school in Oberalm. Between 1949 and 1950 he taught as a teacher at the agricultural school in Bruck an der Großglocknerstrasse , then from 1950 to 1955 he was responsible for the technical supervision of the agricultural vocational school in St. Johann im Pongau. In 1955 he was assigned to the branch of the Winklhof agricultural school in Kleßheim, where he worked from 1959 to 1977 as director of the agricultural school and administrator of the Kleßheim estate. It was in 1977 due to his political activities on leave and was again after leaving the State Government 1983-1984 Director of the School of Agriculture.

Politics and functions

Bonimaier was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament on June 30, 1964 and was a member of the state parliament until April 19, 1977. From February 7, 1968 to May 13, 1969, he served as the second deputy president of the state parliament and headed the ÖVP state parliament club between 1974 and 1977 as club chairman. On April 22, 1977, he moved to the Salzburg state government, to which he was a member until March 15, 1983 as state councilor. Within the party, Bonimaier was active as district party leader of the ÖVP in Flachgau from 1964 to 1980. Furthermore Bonimaier was chairman of the Salzburg cattle exploitation from 1963 to 1977 and from 1968 to 1977 chairman of the supervisory board of the Austrian cattle association.
