Maria Bommer

Maria Bommer (born January 6, 1942 in Sankt Johann im Pongau ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1994 to 2004 she was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1999 to 2004 the third state parliament president .

Bommer attended elementary and secondary school in St. Johann im Pongau between 1948 and 1956 and then worked in the textile industry in Vorarlberg until 1959. She then worked as a payroll clerk in her hometown from 1959 to 1961.

Bommer joined the SPÖ in 1964 and began her political career in 1984 as the district chairwoman and deputy district party leader of the SPÖ in Pongau. She also acted as a member of the state women's committee between 1984 and 2004, was also a member of the SPÖ state party executive committee and was a member of the SPÖ state party presidency from 1994 to 2004. She took her first political mandate between 1979 and 1984 as a member of the local council of St. Johann, after which she was a member of the local council from 1984 to 1988 and vice-mayor from 1988 to 2000. Bommer represented the SPÖ from May 2, 1994 to April 27, 2004 in the Salzburg state parliament and served as the third state parliament president from April 27, 1999 until she left. Bommer was also a member of the Board of Trustees for State Aid from 1994 to 2004.
